Dr. Maria Montessori
Physician, engineer, and educator Dr. Maria Montessori is best known for her philosophy of education and her writings on scientific pedagogy.
From being known as the first female physician in Italy to traveling worldwide to spread her philosophy and meeting eminent personalities to revolutionize education, she and her son Mario Montessori have served humanity greatly. Her theories focus on human development and are never anachronistic. Her deep understanding of human development has helped children and adults worldwide to become lifelong learners, independent, responsible, empathic, courageous, and willing to serve the community.
Montessori Approach
The Montessori approach to education focuses on respecting the child, following the child's interests, and understanding and supporting his/her needs. This method aids in the natural development of a child and helps children to think and act for themselves independently and with the courage of thought.
